As my editor pointed out, there are now shops, cafes
and restaurants that openly display signs in their windows
advertising that they are ‘breastfeeding friendly’ and that
nursing mothers are welcome. Any mother with a baby in
tow would welcome this sign that once again encourages
parents into a business rather than scaring them off.
Many countries have stores that even cater for pets so
that if people are taking their dog for a walk and they
decide to do some shopping, there is a special pet room
with food and water, play toys and even cages for the more
antisocial animals. The pet owners can shop at leisure
knowing that little ‘Lassie’ is being well looked after.
