I see this as a great opportunity for a group of small
companies to promote themselves, such as a medical centre
or a day care centre or a complete car care centre.
Friends of mine own a furniture manufacturing com-
pany. They approached a local shopping centre to put a
display into a vacant shop at the front of the building. The
lease was month-to-month and the rent was a flat 10 per
cent of turnover of sales based out of the shop. My friends
were considering renting a shop in a centre and committing
to a lease. However, this gave them the opportunity to trial
the idea at a minimal cost (the shop did not prove viable
and they moved back to the factory showroom).
