This type of fancy channel page is called a brand channel, and it’s available to high-
volume YouTube/AdWords advertisers. You have to apply to get a brand channel;
YouTube will accept your application if you’re a big enough advertiser.
Benefits of a Brand Channel
Why bother with a brand channel? Primarily because you get a much better-look-
ing and better-branded channel page. In essence, a brand channel affords several
advantages to marketers, including the following:
• Channel banner (960 × 150 pixels) at the top of the channel page; this
banner can be clickable.
• Side column image (300 × 250 pixels) that appears on the left side of
the channel page, below the channel information module, such as the
one for Coca Cola (www.youtube.com/user/CocaCola/) in Figure
16.12; this image can be clickable.

Tip
Clickable channel banners or side column images can be used to lead to
all sorts of other content. For example, Coca Cola’s side column image
includes clickable links to Coke’s accounts on Facebook, Twitter, and other
social media sites.
• Autoplay of a featured video on the channel page.
• Ability to add up to two self-hosted channel gadgets, to add more func-
tionality to your channel page.
