Establishing a Brand Channel

YouTube’s basic channel pages are fine and, as you’ve seen, somewhat customizable. But
there’s even more customization to be had, in the form of a YouTube brand channel.

Understanding Brand Channels

You’ve probably noticed some channel pages that have more visible branding, typi-
cally in the form of the company’s logo or other graphic as a banner along the top
of the page. This banner is often clickable (back to the company’s main website),
sometimes with multiple clickable links or buttons.

For example, Figure 16.9 shows a simple banner ad at the top of the channel page
for TOMS Shoes (www.youttube.com/user/tomsshoes/); clicking the banner opens
TOMS’ regular website. Figure 16.10 shows how Ford
(www.youtube.com/user/ford/) uses this banner space, by essentially turning it into
a brand graphic (though still clickable). Figure 16.11 shows an even more sophisti-
cated channel page from Kmart (www.youtube.com/user/kmart/), complete with
links to the company’s store finder and weekly ads.
