LIFE SKILLS IN EDUCATION
Learning is a complex system of interactive processes. In order to compete with the global standards of
education, teaching life skills to students is a prerequisite for their overall development.
At MJKPS, the emphasis on acquiring essential life skills is harped upon at the Primary level. Along with
learning reading, writing and speaking, students inherit confidence, leadership skills, cooperation
techniques and teamwork skills through various classroom activities. In their Life Skills & value education
period, students of grade 1 &2 learn to pack their school bags, arrange their almirahs, lay down the table
and more. During the online sessions folklores are narrated to induce imagination, creativity and morals
through the characters of didactic stories. Grade 3 upwards, effective communication skills, self-
awareness, positive attitude, empathy and compassion are imbibed through classroom interactions,
anecdotes, narration by students and a lot more. With the use of critical thinking strategies, students
develop skills such as reasoning, questioning and investigating, comparing and connecting, finding
complexity, and exploring viewpoints.
