Message from the Executive Director:
I hope everyone had an enjoyable summer. We now turn our attention to fall
with its cooler weather, school activities, holidays and our fall continuing
education (CE) lineup. This year has been a banner year for our CE program.
NCDS offered over 100 hours of CE, a new record, which included some
unique topics and experiences. We are excited about our upcoming course on
September 29th with Dr. Richard Madow, “Ten Ways to Create a Memorable
Patient Experience in YOUR Practice!” The program is a unique team building
experience that shouldn’t be missed! Learn how to make your office an enjoy-
able space for patients and staff, reducing turnover and increasing your
bottom line. All done in a very entertaining manner. Sign up before it’s sold out! Another new event is
our Walk for Oral Cancer on September 10 at Bethpage State Park. Walk for Oral Cancer is a day of fun
th
to help raise money and awareness to fight oral cancer and I hope everyone has signed up to participate
in this great cause! All fall courses are listed on page 21 of this Bulletin.
We have two great prosthodontic and implant courses coming up during our General Membership Meet-
ings in October and November. Don’t forget, dinner is always free at our General Membership Meetings.
Also in November is our 14 Annual Long Island Women’s Dental Symposium, fondly referred to as
th
“Scrubs & Stilettos.” This award-winning program was created by women dentists for women dentists in
consideration of the unique challenges woman dentists face. The keynote speaker this year is Dr. Win-
ifred Booker. Dr. Booker, an ADA member from Maryland, is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediat-
ric Dentistry and CEO and Director of Development of The Children’s Oral Health Institute. She is also the
founder of Brushtime Products Inc., a company that manufactures child-friendly dental hygiene products.
Our 2023 Award Recipient is NYSDA President-Elect Dr. Prabha Krishnan. Besides hearing their presenta-
tions there will be a dozen round-table topics to choose from. We also have a special guest speaker, ADA
President (as of October 2023) Dr. Linda Edgar.
I want to thank everyone who took the time to reach out with their positive comments about my
message on membership in the last Bulletin. We are the masters of our own destiny, and it is truly up to
each and every one of us to help the Society succeed and improve our profession as we head into the
future. Make sure all your referrals are to member dentists. Since April, we have been running TV and
social media ads educating the public about member dentists and referring them to “Find-A-Dentist.”
The ADA program “Find-a-Dentist” only lists member dentists. The advertising worked as traffic to our
Facebook page went up 350% and News12.com (where we had many ad placements) became the third
highest referral source to our website. Comparing the number of “Find-A-Dentist” profile views for
Nassau members in the first quarter of 2023 (when the ad wasn’t running) to the second quarter of 2023
(while the ad was running) shows an increase of 241%. Hopefully that nearly 2.5 times increase translat-
ed into some new patients for our members. Keep an eye out for our next campaign in helping
