Zelé has been caught-out again! “What are my

socks doing under your feet?” he asked with his

hands on his hips.

“I…I… we needed a ball, dad”, murmured Zelé

looking down at his feet.

The boys sensed Zelé was in trouble and started

talking at once trying to defend him:

“Tomorrow we have a very important game at

school, Mr. Lucas”, said little Ronaldo.

“We are playing against the Tigers team, Mr.

Lucas” says Cesar with his eyes nearly popping out

of his head.

“Yes Dad, the Tigers are unbeatable” Fred added

with fear in his eyes.

“We didn’t have a ball to train with, Mr. Lucas, and

we used your socks and stuffed them with banana

leaves. It works really well” Kaka explained.

Lucas looked down at the worried faces. A silence

filled the air for a few seconds and then Lucas says:

“Hmm! Okay then, let’s see what you all play like”.
