Key Considerations

Urban Pathways, like many of its counterparts, has been required

to deal with unprecedented challenges over the last few years.

                                                                    Staffing is a crisis situation.
                                                                    Recruiting and retaining staff

                                                                    is a continuing challenge.

The number of people who need housing

            and support services keeps growing

including an influx of migrants from other
States and the continued shortage of

            affordable housing in NYC.

Quality of housing and supportive services
provided are inconsistent. While most people

are grateful to Urban Pathways, many also
                                                                described feeling frustrated, uncertain and,
                                                                sometimes, unsafe.

          While many staff are intrinsically

motivated by our mission and impact,
these are not enough for to ensure job

          satisfaction and retention. Funding

salaries and expanded benefits is critical.

We need replicable systems and processes to

be more efficient and effective. We are overly
dependent on the varying levels of skill and
                                                                 effort by individual contributors.

Urban Pathways has the reputation, presence
and results to impact programs and policies

regionally and nationally. We do not have the
resources, staff or structure to leverage the
opportunities and respond to the demands for

          our visibility, influence and leadership.
