Motivating Patients
Quality measurements include a number of items that require a change in patient
behavior. Sadly, traditional medical education does not prepare clinicians to
effectively coach patients to lead to behavior change, even though it is a vital part of
almost every visit. This extends into strategies to approach shared decision-making
with patients and strategies to specifically improve medication adherence.
Motivating Behavior Change
60-90 minutes. Learn a model for motivating behavior change in patients based on
the concepts of “Motivational Interviewing”.
Shared Decision-Making
60 minutes. Learn how to use the shared decision model between clinician and
patient.
Sticking to What is Prescribed
60 minutes. Strategies to improve adherence to medical treatment.
