Motivating Patients

Quality measurements include a number of items that require a change in patient

behavior. Sadly, traditional medical education does not prepare clinicians to
effectively coach patients to lead to behavior change, even though it is a vital part of
almost every visit. This extends into strategies to approach shared decision-making
with patients and strategies to specifically improve medication adherence.
