HUMSS Cluster launches Peace Month

In line with the United Nations’ International Day of
Peace, the HUMSS United Leaders Association (HULA) launched
the HUMSS Peace Month from September 8-28, 2020, focusing on
spreading compassion, kindness, and hope in the face of the
pandemic.
With the theme, “Shaping Peace Together”, the cluster
organization launched two activities to highlight the emotional
and mental need for peace, with Peace in QuARTine which lasted
the whole month, and a Peace Forum which took place on September
21, 2020.
Three categories were introduced under Peace QuARTine:
Zharlaw Calimpon took first place in the Songwriting and Performing
Contest, while Hannah Mondilla and Krystallaine So were declared
winners for Poster Making and Poetry, respectively.
With the initiative of promoting, Different Perspective in
Shaping Peace Together, the Peace Forum presented several guest
speakers namely, Paul Andrew Juario and Ashley Marie Mandal
(HUMSS Ambassador and Ambassadress 2020), Nelbha Iglesia (SDPC
Director), Kharl Vyncent Magbago (Philippine Ecumenical Peace
Platform-Cebu), and Beverly Antonio, Administrator of Notre
Dame de Vie Retreat House, Quezon City.
The month-long event was made successful with the efforts
of the cluster organization’s committee headed by Mia Flor
Redoble, Prime Minister, along with Mr. Ron Mhel Francis Blanco,
head organizer and adviser of HULA, and with the supervision
of Ms. Raquel Perez, Academic Chair for HUMSS Cluster.
