You completed three devotions in preparation for your
session today. Share them with your discipler and talk
about them.
This will help your discipler direct the next hour so it’s most meaning-
ful to you.
And, if you want to make this time especially interesting, ask your
discipler to answer the same questions you answered. Fair is fair!
Both can either share or take the lead. Try
alternating in reading a paragraph.
A Conversation About Fellowship
During the next hour, both of you will
go over the following outline. You’ll
move fast, but if there’s something you don’t understand—or you can’t
quite accept—mention it.
Nobody will get upset, and you can discuss questions or comments.
Honest.
1. You and the church.
Maybe you’ve heard it. Perhaps you’ve even said it: “I want to follow
Jesus, but I’m not so sure about joining a church.”
Any discussion about fellowship includes understanding what the
Bible means when it uses the word, church. The word is a translation of
the Greek word, ekklesia, and has two meanings:
• an assembly—a group of people
• called together or called out—a select group of people who are
somehow apart from everyone else.
This means when the Bible talks about the church, it’s referring to an
