ADDITIONAL ELECTIVES
Affective Skills*: This course focuses on developing social skills. The topics covered in the class vary based on
student needs and can include direct instruction on forming and maintaining friendships, developing advocacy
skills, appropriately handling conflict, stress, and anxiety, etc. Affective Skills counts as a general elective
credit.
*Only students with an IEP may take this course. Case manager approval is required.
Study Skills*: Students use Google Docs and Google Calendar to work on time management and planning skills.
There are in-class assignments that must be completed and mini-lessons to help students develop the
necessary skills to be independently successful in managing their other classes. Students also have time to
complete homework, complete missing work from their other classes, prepare for assessments, and can utilize
study skills for their extended time on assessments in other classes. Study Skills counts as a general elective
credit.
