168 making instruction work
• Ask a student to role-play a customer as you practice
the selling skill.
• Complete pages 5-8 in the workbook.
• Ask an instructor to demonstrate _________.
• Give your practice videotape to an instructor for
review.
• Sign up for the group practice session.
• Sign up for the brazing demonstration.
In other words, make sure that the module directs the
student to the instructional sources and to the practice.
When few instructional resources exist, they will either
have to be created and included in the module or pre-
sented by you. In the latter case the module would indi-
cate to students when they should be ready for your
instruction on the topic being studied.
8. Finally, write what students should do to demonstrate
their achievement of the objective. If this will be in the
form of a written test, tell them where to get it and how
it will be administered. If a demonstration of skill on a
machine or with a process is in order, tell them where to
go and what to get. In other words, state what they will
have to do to be eligible to begin another module.
If You’re Stuck
Sometimes our pencils go limp or our brains turn to mush.
In other words, sometimes we get stuck. Fortunately, there is a
simple solution. Write the practice section of the module first.
