“Thinking Globally: Sustainable Goals in the 4th
Industrial Revolution”

With the theme “Thinking Globally: Sustainable Goals in the 4th Industrial Revolution,”
Southville International School and Colleges celebrated the first International Research
Conference via zoom on July 15 -16, 2021. The event’s goal was to exhibit and present different
studies from different fields of studies and professions from all over the world and give them
acknowledgement and appreciation. A search for best research paper and best oral
presentation was also part of the conference.
The first day of the event started with the SISC invocation followed by the singing of the
Philippine national anthem. Ms. Michelle Sto. Tomas, a research associate of Southville
International School and Colleges facilitated the event. A welcome and institutional
introduction was delivered by Dr. Jocely Tizon, President of SISC, followed by the reading of
online conference protocols and recognition of all zoom participants. An inspirational speech
was also delivered by the SGEN Chief Executive Mentor, Dr. Genevieve Ledesma Tan, who
shared her passion and interest in research, and explained how different researches can
impact our lives. This was followed by the introduction of the keynote speaker, Hon.
Bernadette Tecson Romulo- Puyat, secretary of the department of tourism, who was
introduced by Dr. Marjorie G. Tangong, SISC Vice President for Academics. Awarding of e-
certificate for Ms. Puyat was given by Dr. Felma Tria, SISC College Director. Dr. Nancy L. De
Guia, dean of Southville Institute of Tourism, introduced the plenary speaker of the event, Dr.
Zubir Azhar from University Sains Malaysia with his research entitled “Delivering Quality
Education in the Era of 4IR: Opportunities, Challenges & Way Forward.” An e-certificate was
also given to Dr. Azhar for giving his precious time and for presenting his paper during the
event. Before the end of the morning session, Dr. Ruel Cajili read and presented the research
guidelines and parallel sessions procedures for the afternoon session.
