A great night to cruise
ABOVE: Show vehicles of the classic, vintage and newer variety were parked along G Street between 10th and 12th streets as part of the "Cruise Reedley" Freestyle Cruise night on May 1. The free event, hosted by Nomads of Reed- ley, featured these classic vehicles parked along G Street while the general public parked on side streets and behind G Street businesses. The informal event allowed attendees to dine, check out the cars and enjoy the outdoor evening weather. No awards were presented this year, and G Street remained open to traffic.

Mid Valley Disposal to handle waste, recycling

The Reedley City Council last week unanimously approved four resolutions that included privatizing the city's solid
waste collection and a contract with Mid Valley Disposal, LLC out of Kingsburg. At its April 27 regular meeting that
drew a large turnout along with 40 to 50 people watching by video, the council took the action to officially contract out all solid waste handling and services to a private company.
After a good amount of public com- ment from competing firms and a union
representative for city workers who were losing their jobs, the council for- malized a deal with Mid Valley Disposal. In addition, resolutions were passed to liquidate and sell Reedley's solid waste assets. The city also moved to pay off more than $800,000 in multiple city funds to allow for the sale of the refuse

Dinuba council offers site plan for Dutch Bros location
By Jon Earnest
Mid Valley Times
Dinuba city officials last week presented the City Council with a courtesy site plan review for a pro- posed Dutch Bros (Broth- ers) drive-thru coffee facil- ity at the northwest corner of West El Monte Way and North Alta Avenue.
The popular Oregon- based coffee chain has built small drive-thru facil- ities in a number of Central Valley cities and towns, and have proven to be popular to community residents.
City staff presented the council with the site plan review at the April 27 coun-
cil meeting to receive feed- back and possible direction with the project. While ma- ny would welcome the ad- dition of the business, the primary drive-thru service has been a source of traf- fic concerns in some cities, primarily a Mooney Boule- vard location in Visalia.
The Dutch Bros build- ing would be an 862-square- foot kiosk with a drive-th- ru window located on the south end of the site. The drive-thru lane would run north-south along the east side of the facility, with the entrance to the drive-thru toward the north end of the site near Franklin Way.
The drive-thru would
feature twin lanes running parallel to Alta Avenue. The two lanes would merge to a single lane before turning west to pass by the building and drive-up window. The business traditionally uses a combination of staff in- side the building and "run- ners" (outside employees on foot working with cus- tomers.
The site plan, crafted by city planning consul- tant Karl Schjoettler and presented by Public Works Director Ismael Hernan- dez, stated that the city is aware that a fast food res- taurant may be interested
