Coronavirus Update
Decline
in cases
remains
sluggish

Even with COVID-19 vac- cines beginning to become available to many Central Valley children ages 5 to 11 years, positive cases of the virus continued to yo-yo be- tween increases and decreas- es last week.
The Tuesday, Nov. 9 update for both Fresno and Tulare counties showed a decline in active cases, but once again delays in reporting late to jumps and then declines in cases rates. Both counties are not releasing weekend num- bers as they occur, instead spiking on Mondays. There also were some temporary delays in updating the website the middle of last week.
By early this week, both counties showed a slight de- crease in active numbers for the previous seven days. In Fresno County, the positive test rate dipped from 9.2 per- cent to 8 percent of 1,898,627 tests (an increase of more than 32,000 for the week). The rate of new daily COVID cases per 100,000 in popula- tion ticked up slightly, from 30.8 to 31 after going as high as 32.8 during the week.

Crowds turn out in Sanger, Orosi-Cutler to celebrate
MVT Staff Report
After a year's absence be- cause of COVID-19, the pub- lic again got the chance last week to take to the downtown streets of Sanger, Orosi and Cutler and pay tribute to our nation's veterans.
On Nov. 6, the 2021 editions of the Sanger Veterans Parade and the Cutler-Orosi Veterans Day Parade returned in both locations, after the 2020 pa- rades had to be canceled be- cause of the pandemic.
Once again, people lined 7th Street in downtown Sanger, as well as Academy Avenue at the parade's start and on to P Street. The same story played out in Orosi, where groups of people sat in small chairs or stood on the sidewalks along Road 128 as the parade proceeded south on the main road into adjoin- ing Cutler before ending at Ledbetter Park.
Both events honored Viet-

It was a whirlwind Friday and Saturday for Dinuba High product Dylan Lee last week.
Less than 24 hours after participating in his Atlanta Braves World Series champi- onship parade in Atlanta, Lee flew a late-night flight back to California and arrived in time for his participation in the in- augural Fundament Camp for baseball and softball players the morning of Nov. 6.
Lee was honored by the city and school at the clinic, which took place at Dinuba High School's football field. He was recognized for his feat of being called up to make his big league debut on Oct. 1, followed by pitching in the postseason high- lighted by his starting Game 4 of the World Series.
Lee was honored both at the Nov. 6 clinic and a movie night that followed.
