2.3.3. Backup Database

Backing up the database makes a copy of it in its current state:
• Select ‘Make a backup copy of the current database’

• Browse to and select the database to be backed up.
• Browse to and select a location and filename for the backed-up database.
IAM will create a copy of the database in the selected location. The currently opened
database will not be affected.

2.3.4. Compact Database
Sometimes after a database has been used for multiple years on multiple assets it may
need to be cleaned up:
Note:
Compacting the database can help reduce the size of the database,
but it is highly recommended to back up the original database before
compacting.
• Select ‘Compact current database’

• Browse to and select the database to be compacted.
IAM will scan the database, removing any orphan data and attempting to repair any
broken links.
