CHAPTER 3
WORKSTATION SAFETY
1. Applying safety practices at your workstation will help prevent accidents and
injuries.
• Place all the scissors and other sharp
object from the edge of your
workstation so they will not be
knocked off easily.
• Stored pencils flat or with points down
• Use staples remover to remove
stapler rather than use fingernail.
• Don’t examine jammed stapler by
holding it near your eyes or testing
over your finger.
• Keep drawers neat and avoid
cluttered to prevent hidden pencils,
pins, or scissors pierce your hands.
• Sharp objects such as pins and
thumbtacks should be placed in
closed containers.
• Never reach blindly into a desk
drawer or file drawer, even if you are
rushed or are talking to someone.
• Do not push a drawer shut by placing
your hand at the top or side of the
drawer.
• A chair mat is a vinyl pad placed
underneath the chair to eliminate
wear on the carpet from rolling the
chair.
