EDITORIAL

The anguish of the blank page... or the difficulty of persisting.

I have now been President of AAFI-AFICS for 10 years. Sometimes the editorial writes
itself, sometimes the weight of the outside world makes it more difficult.

Other times, and often, it's a rewarding role, like yesterday when I received a very
stylish old lady, the kind you want to emulate. There, listening and empathizing with the
vicissitudes of life, you feel useful, and you still want to 'work' for the association.

This is not always the case, but you have to ‘hang in there’ and make the best of it. But I
always choose to remember where I come from, and my farming roots keep my feet
firmly planted in the soil.

There are often wonderful encounters, people who believe in the usefulness of our
association. Thanks to them….

I do not usually like to be 'praised', as I am always looking for the hypocritical side of the
exercise. However, Evelina succeeded in persuading me to be interviewed for DIVA
magazine, which is an elegant way of celebrating my ten years as President of AFICS
(see page 23). Thank you, Evelina.
