Thus, it is necessary to cancel that, despite the fact that the overwhelming majority of
adaptive control systems for the cutting process are based on information about the electrical
power (active, full) of electric drives; one should clearly understand the limits of applicability
of these systems. As shown above, the VA signal accompanying the processes of friction and
cutting can supplement or replace, depending on the modes, control systems based on the
registration of electromagnetic effects in electric drives. And its parameters can be widely
used for the implementation of diagnostic systems that monitor contact processes in kinematic
pairs, control wear and breakage of the cutting tool, and determine the periods of occurrence
of frictional self-oscillations. Based on the above, the authors obtained patents [19, 20] for a
method and device for adaptive control of the cutting process.
