More duty shifts, less research. Michael Murninkas, Not just a profession, but a calling. Sitar Dri, nurse in the ER (photo: Before the pandemic, if you heard
a medical student and physician assistant in the Dean Ariel) about hospitals, about medical staff,
Internal Medicine ER (Photo: Dean Ariel) it was frequently under the banner of
“violence against medical personnel,”
and of course, about overcrowding
in the emergency rooms, elderly
in the hallways. Today, Israelis and
people world over, are cheering for
medical professionals. Thanking
them, singing in their honor from
their balconies. A very moving sight.
Remember, these people, all of them
- men and women - administrative
personnel, physicians, nurses, security
staff, nurse’s aides and orderlies,
technicians and others, every single
one of them are the ones who are
treating the diseases and epidemics,
traffic accidents and accidents in the
home. During the global pandemic
and at times of tragedy, when they are
in the headlines and even when they
are not. Because medicine is not just
another profession. It’s a calling.
