EIJ: Who are the Owners?
Sound Training Group LLC: Donato (Dan) Sinisi and Alan F. Shaw
EIJ: What exactly type of training does the Sound Training Group LLP provide?
Sound Training Group LLP: We provide related training that is and is not covered or offered through
mandatory state or employer requirements. We also offer the required state training. Many of our training
courses are designed to give the security/public safety professionals and others the opportunity to gain
knowledge in areas of public safety where otherwise it might not be available. We make every effort to be
progressive and include training that brings value to the student’s career and/or the protection of themselves and
others. Knowledge is power.
EIJ: Please give me some background on Dan Sinisi (Yourself) and Alan Shaw? How did you become
partners?
Sound Training Group LLP: Alan and I have long been members of Private Oficer International (a security-
law enforcement association of which I am an Advisory Board member). We had a Connecticut chapter and
periodically spoke over the phone about chapter affairs, the issues plaguing the security industry and how very
little training is afforded to our security professionals out there. We shared ideas and found out we had a lot in
common. During one phone conversation we inally decided to stop talking about it and provide a much needed
service. We met for the irst time shortly thereafter and decided this was right for us.
I began my public safety career in 1991 as a contract security oficer for a Fortune 500 company, mainly
performing receptionist responsibilities. Shortly thereafter I was promoted to Site Supervisor/Liason for the
company.
Several years later, I had the opportunity of joining Greenwich Hospital as a security oficer working the
overnight shifts. After a year, I began working days and was exposed to many more opportunities. I took
advantage of their tuition reimbursement policy and attended college. In the meantime, I was promoted FTO.
Upon earning my degree, I was promoted again to Security Coordinator, overseeing department operations
and training. I became certiied as a MOAB Instructor and certiied as a HazMat Technician and ultimately
was charged with overseeing the Hazardous Materials program and response team. Based on my experience
and knowledge, I was appointed by executive management to the Environment of Care Committee charged
with adapting recommendations and standards of the Joint Commission. I was also appointed as a member
of the Patient Safety Sub-Committee. As part of the management structure, I oversaw the implementation
and operations of the Emergency Operation Center in conjunction with Yale-New Haven Health System.
I procured EOC equipment through purchases and DHS grants. Facilitated training exercises between the
hospital, law enforcement, Fire and EMS and other stakeholders. I had the unique opportunity to assist with the
implementation and operations of the HUGS Infant Protection System and new CCTV systems.
In 2010 I was given the opportunity to join ABM Security Services management team as a Security Manager for
a large business complex with multiple buildings and security oficer force of twenty-ive professionals. Aside
from day to day operations, provided VIP and celebrity escorts during their visits. During my tenure, I provided
additional training to all oficers and key members of the business community.
By early 2013, I began inding myself conducting more and more training and began to tinker with the idea of
making a change to my career and by late August 2013 Sound Training Group LLP was born.
