The Gur Yeshiva Alley
In this alley you can feel (get) the atmosphere of "Religious
Jerusalem" from those days [the days of yonder] until our days. On the
wall there is a notice about the removal of the evil eye. Many people
believed in the evil eye that was made out of envy, and there were
many rabbis that knew how to cancel the evil eye.
In this neighborhood there are many "Tsedakomats"- money boxes for
charity, on the walls.
Here you can find (is found) also The Yeshiva of Gur- the Yeshiva of
the richest Hassidism in the Ultra- orthodox world.
Near the yeshiva there are two graves of Great Rabbis , The rabbis are
named after the books which they wrote " The baal [master] of The
Imrei Emet" and "The baal of the "pney Menachem"
At the War of Independence, The Gur Rabbi died and it was
impossible to bury him in the mount of olives because the Arabs didn't
let us get there.
The Rabbi asked the Hassidim to bury him near the Yeshiva and then
transfer his grave to the Mount of olives, but " you don't move the
bones of and that's why the grave stayed here and near it is the grave
of the Rabbi's son.
The Germans took the Yeshiva's land* but not long ago the Gur
Hassidim bought the land back. Like we said, the Gur Hassidism is a
very rich one.
*The original Gur Yeshiva in Poland, after which this one was
named.
