Eden Cinema
In Neve Tzedek they built a cinema. It was so new in Israel that it didn’t have a name. So
they asked Ben-Yehuda how a cinema is called, and he said “re’inoa”, because it is
possible to see a moving picture. Today it’s called kolnoa because it is also possible to
hear sound. People loved the movie theater and they felt there like in paradise. That’s why
they called the movie theater ‘Eden’. There are lots and lots of stories about the movie
theater. Here is one story: One day there was a movie about robbers who began to escape,
run and shoot. The police officer who guarded the movie theater was very excited, and he
got confused a little. He took his hand gun, and shot the screen…
