Act on brush border

a. Dextranase: converts oligosaccharides into  disaccharides
(maltose & isomaltose).
b. Sucrase, Maltase, Lactase: Digests sucrose, maltose &

lactose  glucose & Fructose & Galactose (Monosaccharide)

Absorption

a. Glucose & galactose  Absorbed by cotransport with sodium.
b. Fructose  absorbed by facilitated diffusion, then pass via portal vein  liver.

2- Protein digestion:

In mouth No digestion

Pepsin / HCl
In stomach
Digests protein into polypeptides.

➢ Pancreatic enzymes
➢ Act in intestinal lumen.
➢ Secreted in zymogen (inactive) form then activated in intestinal
In intestine
lumen as trypsin, chymotrypsin.

Digests polypeptides into oligopeptides
