Absorption

➢ Glycerol, fatty acids & monoglycerides  enter intestinal cells by passive diffusion.
➢ In intestinal mucosa:
a. monoglycerides & long chain fatty acids  combine again & resynthesize

triglycerides  combine with protein  lipoprotein called chylomicrons 
enter lacteals of the villi  pass through lymphatic vessels into the general
circulation.

b. Short chain fatty acids & glycerol  absorbed into the capillary blood in the
villi  transported to the liver via hepatic portal veins.
