10. Vasopressor sympathomimetics (selective α1 agonists)

 BP & have longer duration of action than NE (stimulate both α1 α2)
Ex: Phenylephrine مهملا, Nasal decongestants
methoxamine, metaraminol &  Used in allergic rhinitis (inflammation of nasal

mephentermine mucosa), common cold & sinusitis
Phenylephrine ➔ mydriatic  Topically: nasal drops or spray ➔ naphazoline,
&  IOP (treat glaucoma). xylometazoline & oxymetazoline)

Used in hypotensive states, Side effects ➔ rebound congestion &  BP.
nasal decongestants,  Oral decongestants: phenylpropanolamine,
(nasal congestion due to V.D) phenylephrine, pseudoephedrine.

 Phenylpropanolamine ➔ banned from many
countries due to bronchial problem
