        ILF GREAT BOOK SWAP

        In September, the Indigenous Literacy
Foundation (ILF) Great Book Swap was hosted
by both the Senior and Junior Library Resource
Centres. It was a huge success and well
        supported by students and Staff.

For a gold coin donation, participants could
bring along a book they had read and loved, and
swap it for another. Thanks to the generosity
and enthusiasm of students, staff and parents,
more than $500 was raised for the ILF, which will
provide books and literacy programs to remote
Indigenous communities where they are needed
        most.

The Great Book Swap was co-ordinated by
Senior School students in Deane House, led
by ILF Ambassador Sidney Edwards (Year 7,
        pictured right).

        MASSIVE MURRAY PADDLE (MMP)

This year, BMGS again participated in the Massive Murray Paddle, a challenging 404km paddle
on the magnificent Murray River. BMGS fielded a team of 30 students, accompanied by 29
adults, with ten boats in the water flying the BMGS flag.

Unfortunatlely, one day of the paddle had to be cancelled due to 43 degree temperatures and
catastrophic fire conditions. As a result, the team only paddled on days 1, 2, 3, and 5, covering a
total distance of 342km. Even so, the BMGS paddlers managed an impressive combined total of
        5,200km!
We congratulate the students who completed the half-marathon distance (at least 171km), Jack
Wiseman (Year 10), Jared Harris (Year 9), Oliver Stephens (Year 9) and Tom Delaney (Year 9).

One of the charters of the MMP is the element of the fundraising, and this year the group
raised $7,500.00, with the majority of these funds being donated to the group’s chosen charity,
        Junction 142 in Katoomba.
