        SWIMMING

The swimming career of Noah Erne continues to go from strength to strength. At the State
Swimming Championship, Noah broke the State 50m Junior Boys’ Backstroke record and,
although finishing 2 , also broke the State 50m Junior Boys Breaststroke record. Overall,
                          nd
Noah achieved two Gold medals (50m Freestyle and 50m backstroke); two Silver medals (50m
breaststroke and 50m butterfly) and finished 5 overall in the Open category (all ages) in the
                                                   th
        100m Freestyle.
Noah also received a certificates from the NSW Primary Schools Sports Association in
recognition of his selection in the 2021 NSW Merit Team for Swimming and for breaking the
Multiclass Junior Boys backstroke record. With these outstanding results, Noah qualified for the
National team, however, sadly, all national school competitions were cancelled due to the COVID
        restrictions placed on School sport.

Bethany Lane (Year 11) attended trials for the NSWCIS Girls’
Open Cricket team and was selected to represent NSWCIS at
the NSW All Schools Secondary Open Girls’ Championships.
As BMGS does not have a Girls’ XI, Bethany, a leg spin bowler,
has been playing in our First XI since Year 10, and is also an
        opening bat for the team.
With the dual impacts of the pandemic and the La Nina
weather pattern, our First XI has had limited opportunities to
shine over the past two seasons, however, happily, one of the
key matches of any BMGS Cricket season - Pink Day, played
this year against Oxley College - went ahead, in support of
the McGrath Foundation. In perfect weather and a ‘home’
round for all pink-tinted BMGS summer sports teams
(Basketball, Cricket, Touch Football) it was a fantastic day
of sport played in great spirit and for a great cause, raising
        almost $2,000 for the Foundation.
