Message From the Principal -RANJITH JAYASUNDARA-

of Mahinda College, Galle.

It gives me great pleasure to send this message as the Principle of Mahinda college, Galle for
the souvenir being published to commemorate the Silver Jubilee of “Colonel Henry Steele
Olcott Memorial Sports Foundation”.

Indeed it’s a great achievement for any association to celebrate 25 years of existence which
shows outstanding commitment of stake holders, in this case 8 leading Buddhist schools
which are a shining light in Education in the country. It is always very heartening to see the
enthusiasm of old boys in whatever they undertake in order to promote and help their old
school. However, when old boys among other schools get together to form an association of
this nature, it is more commendable as it adds extra work for all those who are involved in
giving their valuable time and effort for a cause involving other schools.

I am new to Mahinda college, but I have heard of what the Colonel Henry Steele Olcott
Memorial Sports Foundation has been doing in the past starting with the annual cricket
tournament and later spread its wings to other sports and educational activities including
Quiz program, Leadership program, Relay carnival and Badminton tournament.

Current situation in the country is not ideal for organising any activity and therefore I believe
there will be less activity in all fronts, but I must say I am very excited and look forward for
Mahinda college to be part of all activities organised by your Foundation.

I wish the Foundation all the very best and hope it will be a guiding light to the schoolboys of
not only the 8 schools, but to all schools at large.
