                 ood is,  throughout human his-
           F tory, one of the most important
           elements of our culture and is omni-
           present in all areas of life. When you
           walk through the museums of Euro-
           pean countries, it becomes  clear to
           everyone that since the early Middle
           Ages, the famous and the not so fa-
           mous painters have painted food as the
           main theme or as an element in the
           background of the picture. Today we
           can look at a wide variety of paintings
           as a source of knowledge about what
           our ancestors, rich and poor, ate, what
           they were served and what was on their
           table in general.


           The importance of eating can also be
           recognized by the fact that a special ar-
           tistic style was created that represent-
           ed food, meals and laid tables: still life.
