Many of these paid charts are manipulated with very little accountability to be had. Mega-dollars are
invested into mainstream artists’ careers, and that is why, when you stop paying, your name drops off
that chart. The adage “If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is” applies here. Save your money
for the studio, videos, merch, and other career supports.
INVESTOR
Eventually, all artists hit a brick wall and require someone to step in and invest in them. This can be a
private investor or a business. Most times, this will be a record label or a management company. Again,
NOTHING is free. Investments need to be paid back and usually with interest.
Overwhelmed? Perhaps, and certainly understandable. It’s a LOT of information to take in. But this biz
ain’t for wusses. Again, music is a serious business, and like all businesses, there are certain investments
that need to be made in order to be positioned for success. After all, if you won’t invest in your own
music…why would anyone else?
