Types of Chemical markers

 LPS consists of a polysaccharide chain and a lipid
moiety which is responsible for the toxic effects.

 Humans are able to produce antibodies against
endotoxins after exposure, but these are directed
at the polysaccharide chain and don’t protect
against a wide variety of endotoxins.
 Injection of a small amount of endotoxin in
human volunteers produce fever, a decrease in
blood pressure, and activation of inflammation and
  coagulation.
