FIRST GENERATION NSAIDS:

Propionic acid
derivatives

¨ They include:

- Ibuprofen(Brufen®,Profinal®, Cetafen®)
- Ketoprofen (Ketofan®, Alcofan®)
- Naproxen sodium(Naprofen®, Maxipan®).

I)FIRST GENERATION NSAIDS:

• Ibuprofen has the same efficacy as aspirin.

• Naproxen sodium: it has the same effect and
onset of ibuprofen but with longer duration.

• They cause less GIT problems than aspirin, but
may also cause renal problems.

• Patient with severe allergic reaction to aspirin to
aspirin shouldn't take these drugs because of
possibility of cross-allergy.
