• have one chiral center
• have identical chemical & physical properties(TLC, IR, NMR).
• Have different CD curve
chiral drug compounds are usually formulated & administered as the

racemic mixture ( equimolar mixture )
Synthesis of optically pure drugs is difficult.
Traditional methods of resolving racemic mixtures are inefficient
