Requirements of successful
pharmaceutical solutions
All pharmaceutical solutions must be generally stable and acceptable to the patient.
Oral solutions must be palatable.
Parenteral and ocular solutions must be sterile.
Solutions which come into contact with body fluids must be isotonic (has the same salt
concentration as cells and blood) and at the physiological pH especially if large volumes are
used.
