Actions and Uses:
 Preparations of Coleus species have long been used in Hindu and Ayruvidic traditional

    medicine, particularly for the treatment of heart diseases, and abdominal colic.
 Forskolin has been demonstrated to have hypotensive, cardiotonic and platelet

    aggregation inhibitory activity; because of its adenylate cyclase stimulant activity.
 Forskolin is now obtained from the cell culture, is being marketed in Japan as

    hypotensive and spasmolytic.

Ginkgolides

 Ten diterpenoid lactones, ginkgolides A-Q have been reported in G.biloba extract.
 Ginkgolides A, B and C had protective effects on cerebral hippocampal neurons

     against epilepsy, and improved the memory and learning ability, and alleviated
     neuronal injury.
 In addition, ginkgolides A, B, and K effectively improved anxiety-like behavior in
     mice.
 Ginkgolide C could reduce lipid storage and strongly inhibit human
     carboxylesterase 2 (hCE2).
