The Central Reserve Police Force

(CRPF) has a significant and long-
standing presence in India’s North
East, primarily focused on counter-
insurgency operations, maintaining

law and order, and protecting VIPs,
as well as engaging in humanitarian
efforts to win public trust. The
region’s security scenario has

improved due to these efforts, with
a dedicated North East Zone and
several sectors and battalions under
its jurisdiction, including specialized

CoBRA battalions.
