in 1995 at shipbroker Seabrokers, a
Clarkson subsidiary, and has also
worked at New York-based Poten &
Partners, where he was managing

ONE of the largest and strongest product
tanker plays awaiting an initial public
offering window at the moment is the
Navig8 group of companies, with its
young, US-based executive Jason Klopfer
at the heart of its growth and success.
Mr Klopfer cut his chartering teeth
at shipbrokers Poten & Partners as
head of the spot tanker desk and before
that, McQuilling, where he began as a
shipbroker.
He has also managed tanker
pools for now defunct Overseas
Shipping Group before joining Navig8,
where he was already well known
to founders, former Glencore freight
derivatives trader Nicolas Busch and
the commodities group’s shipping head
Gary Brockleby. The pair started what is
now the Navig8 group of companies 12
years ago.
