This is what it cost the company to generate the sales shown in Total Sales Revenue.
Compare the total costs to the total revenue, but also look at the cost of each line of product
or service versus its revenue. Sales Costs is also known as Cost of Goods Sold (CGS).
Sales Revenue
Often called the "Top Line" this represents the amount the company has sold during the
period. When there is more than one line of revenue shown above the Total Sales Revenue it
provides detail as to which products or services are major revenue producers.
Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX)
The Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 is considered to be the most significant change to federal
securities laws in the United States since the New Deal. Among the major provisions of the
act are criminal and civil penalties for securities violations, auditor independence /
certification of internal audit work by external auditors, whistleblower protection and
increased disclosure regarding executive compensation, insider trading and financial
statements.

Federal government agency responsible for monitoring and regulating corporate financial
reporting and disclosure, use of accounting principles, auditing practices, and trading
activities.
Segment
The different sections of the Accounting Flexfield, which together make up your general
ledger account code. Biogen segments include Company, Cost Center, Account, Undefined,
Product, Geography, GAAP, Local, and Intercompany.
