Different Countries, Different Flags
All countries have flags. A country’s flag stands for* that country. Most flags have
bright colors. The flags of the United States, France, Russia, and Britain are red, white,
and blue. Italy’s flag is red, white, and green. China’s flag is red and yellow. Some
flags have pictures on them. The flag of Kazakhstan shows an eagle flying around the
5 • sun. Mexico’s flag shows an eagle and a snake. Canada’s flag shows a maple leaf.
Most flags are shaped like rectangles*. Only one country’s flag is not a rectangle. Do
you know which country that is? It is Nepal! The flag of Nepal is shaped like two
triangles. One triangle is on top of* the other. So, Nepal’s flag looks like it has two
tails! What does your country’s flag look like?
