Be the Inspiration through Heart 2 Heart partnership with Mexico in 2018-19
How a district can participate in Heart 2 Heart: Any district from any zone can
participate by providing DDF to one or more of the following ten global grant projects that
are being offered:
1. GG 1977662 Vickie Blade Pacemaker Project – This signature project provides life-
saving pacemakers for 400 uninsured people with heart disease and limited economic
means. Estimated budget is $116,000. US sponsor is Greater St. Charles, LA D6200.
Estimated DDF still needed $43,000
2. GG 1977660 Healing Hearts – This project will provide surgical equipment and training
for operations to address newborns and infants with congenital heart disease. Estimate
budget is $200,000. US sponsor is District 6170 AR. Estimated DDF still needed $52,000
3. GG 1977659 Toluca grade school equipment – The project will support educational
equipment, supplies, and training for three schools in the Toluca area. Estimated budget is
$80,000. US sponsor is Jacksonville, NC D7730. Estimated DDF still needed $30,000
4-5. GG 1861159 and GG 1979842 Hospital equipment and supplies - The project will
provide re-purposed medical equipment and supplies (provided through Project CURE) at
seven hospitals in District 4170. These seven public hospitals have a service base of 7 to
9 million people without any medical insurance coverage. Estimated combined budget for
the two grants is $156,000. US sponsors are Livingston TN D6780 and Covington LA
D6840 (tentative). Estimated DDF still needed $50,000
6. GG 1860645 WASH challenge pilot project – The budget is $36,290 for a handful of
schools as a pilot. US sponsor is District 6510 IL. This grant project is fully funded.
7-8. GG 1977889 and GG 1979841 John & Judy Germ Guadalajara Children’s Cancer
Center Equipment Phases 2 and 3 - The Hospital Civil de Guadalajara is following up on
last year’s successful project with two more projects for equipment that helps treat
children’s cancer cases and assists with groundbreaking international research. The
Phase 2 project has been fully funded, submitted and approved, with a budget of $56,000
and sponsored by Springfield Sunrise MO D6080. The estimated budget for Phase 3 is
$312,500. US sponsor of Phase 3 is District 6820 MS. Estimated DDF still needed
$20,000- $50,000
9. GG 1876091 Low Cost Shelters Phase 2 – This project will add 25 homes in Joquicingo,
where dozens of homes were destroyed in the Sept 2017 earthquake. Estimated budget is
$150,000. US sponsor is District 6690 OH (tentative). Estimated DDF still needed
$50,000
10. GG 1872597 Adult Ed literacy training – Budget is $36,290. US sponsor is District
6150 AR. The grant has been submitted!
