Everyone has surrendered unconditionally to their destiny. Everything a person has
and will ever experience is determined in the Sight of Allah, and that individual has
no control over his or her own future. For that reason, the best thing to do is to be
aware of the destiny appointed for one and to submit to Allah.
occurred. As has al ready been stat ed, the true life in Paradise is the fu ture for us. However, the dis -
course, ex pe ri en ces and ban quets in Paradise are all present in the mem o ry of Allah. The fu ture of
all peo ple in this world and in the Hereafter have tak en place in a mo ment in the Sight of Allah be -
fore we are even born and are pre served in His mem o ry:
Everything they did is in the Books. Everything is re cord ed, big or small. The peo ple who guard against
evil are amid Gardens and Rivers, on seats of ho nor in the pres ence of an All-Powerful King. (Qur’an,
54:52-55)
In some vers es of the Qur’an, Allah refers to some events which lie in the fu ture for us, but
which have al ready tak en place in His Sight. For ex am ple, cer tain vers es re vealing that peo ple will
have to ac count for them selves to Allah in the Hereafter relate those events as al ready over and do-
ne with:
The Trumpet is blown, and those in the heav ens and those in the Earth all lose con scious ness, ex cept
those Allah wills. Then it is blown a sec ond time and at once they are stand ing up right, look ing on. And
the Earth shines with the Pure Light of its Lord; the Book is put in place; the Prophets and wit ness es are
brought; it is de cid ed be tween them with the truth . . . (Qur’an, 39:68-69)
Those who dis be lieve are driv en to Hell in com pa nies . . . (Qur’an, 39:71)
And those who have fear of their Lord are driv en to the Garden in com pa nies . . . (Qur’an, 39:73)
Other verses on the same sub ject read:
[On that Day,] ev ery self came to geth er with a driv er and a wit ness. (Qur’an, 50:21)
And Heaven is split apart, for that Day it is very frail. (Qur’an, 69:16)
And [He] re warded them for their stead fast ness with a Garden and with silk. Reclining in it on couch -
es, they ex pe ri enced there nei ther burn ing sun nor bit ter cold. (Qur’an, 76:12-13)
And the Blazing Fire is dis played for all who can see. (Qur’an, 79:36)
So to day those who be lieve laugh at the dis be liev ers. (Qur’an, 83:34)
The evil do ers saw the Fire and re al ized they had to fall in to it and found no way of es cap ing from it.
