The Miracles of our Prophet (saas)

move satan's taint from you, and to for ti fy your hearts and
make your feet firm. (Surat al-Anfal: 9-11)
In his com men ta ry, Imam Sabuni de scribes the an gels' as -
sist ance as fol lows:
Through the had ith that He would as sist with 1,000 con sec u tive an -
gels, Allah re vealed that He had heed ed his prayer. Commentators
say this: According to the had ith, Gabriel sent down 500 an gels and
fought with them on the ar my's right wing. Mika'il al so sent down
500 an gels and fought on the ar my's left wing. Apart from Badr, it
has not been pos si ble to de ter mine in which bat tles the an gels
fought. In oth er bat tles, they de scend ed to make the num ber of
Muslims look great er, but they did not fight.

Allah's help ing you with an gels is sole ly to give you glad tid ings of
vic to ry. He helped so that you could find con tent ment with this vic -
to ry. In fact, vic to ry is on ly in the sight of Almighty Allah. Trust
in His help; do not trust in your own strength and arms. Allah is
vic to ri ous and can not be de feat ed. Whatever His wis dom re quires,
that is what He does.
Remember that Allah brought you sleep from His own pres ence as
an el e ment of se cu ri ty. This is a mir a cle of the Prophet (saas), be -
cause at the mo ment of fear, sleep weighed on all. Ali (ra) says: "On
the day of Badr, there was no horse oth er than Miqdat. I saw that
ev ery one, apart from the Prophet (saas), was sleep ing." Ibn Kathir
says: "In or der for the be liev ers' hearts to be at peace with His help,
they were as if asleep dur ing the bat tle's most vi o lent mo ment. This
is an oth er bless ing grant ed by Allah. What hap pened was that dur -
ing the bat tle of Badr, the Muslims were with out wa ter. At this,
Allah caused such a rain to de scend on them that wa ter flowed from
the val leys.'" 52
