Allah tells us in the Qur'an that cor rup tion is the cause of
war and that Allah does not love cor rup tion:
Each time they kin dle the fire of war, Allah ex tin guish es it.
They rush about the land cor rupt ing it. Allah does not love
cor rupt ers. (Surat al-Ma’idah: 64)
When we look at our Prophet's (saas) life, we see that he
re sort ed to war on ly when it was nec es sa ry for self-de fence.
The rev e la tion of the Qur'an last ed for twen ty-three years.
For the first thir teen years, Muslims lived as a mi nor i ty and op -
pressed re li gious com mu ni ty among the non-Muslim Meccans.
Many of them were phys i cal ly tor tured, some were killed, and
oth ers had their hous es and pos ses sions plun dered. All of them
were con stant ly sub ject ed to in sults and threats. In spite of this,
they re mained non-vi o lent and al ways tried to make peace
with their en e mies. Finally, when the pres sure be came un bear -
