                    Some Qur'anic in ter pret ers, bear ing in mind that the ar ea
               is close to the Arabs, pre fer to use "near est." But the word's re -

               most dif fi cult thing about this de feat was, as we said, the loss
               of Jerusalem, the sym bol of Christianity lo cat ed near the Dead
               Sea. Calculating the Dead Sea's el e va tion is pos si ble on ly with

               mod ern meas ur ing de vi ces. Thus, our Prophet (saas) could not
               have known this fact. This knowl edge is an oth er proof that the
               Qur'an is Allah's word and that He grant ed a great mir a cle to
               our Prophet (saas).



                                   Mecca's Conquest


                    Allah has con firmed His Messenger's vi sion with truth:
                    "You will en ter the Masjid al-Haram in safe ty, Allah will -
                    ing, shav ing your heads and cut ting your hair with out any
                    fear." He knew what you did not know and or dained, in
                    place of this, an im mi nent vic to ry. (Surat al-Fath: 27)
                    In Mecca, our Prophet (saas) dreamed that he saw be liev -
               ers go ing safe ly in to the Masjid al-Haram and cir cum am bu lat -
               ing the Ka'bah. He an nounced this good news to the be liev ers,

               for those who had moved from Mecca to Madinah with him
               could not, at that time, re turn to Mecca.
                    As a help and sup port to him, Allah re vealed Surat al-Fath
               27, in which He said that the dream was true and that, if He
               willed, the be liev ers could en ter Mecca. Indeed, a while lat er
               and as it was predicted in the verse, the Muslims en tered the
               Masjid al-Haram aft er the Treaty of Hudaibiyah and the sub -
