WISDOM AND SOUND ADVICE FROM THE TORAH
will nev er leave you nor for sake you. Do not be afraid; do
not be dis cour aged. (Deuteronomy, 31:8)
Be strong and cour a geous. Do not be afraid or dis cour aged be -
cause... there is a great er Power [God] with us than with him.
(2 Chronicles, 32:7)
He Who dwells in the shel ter of the Most High will rest in the
shad ow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, "He is my ref -
uge and my for tress, my God, in Whom I trust." Surely He will
save you from the fowl er's snare and from the dead ly pes ti -
lence. He will cov er you with His feath ers, and un der His
wings you will find ref uge; His faith ful ness will be your shield
and ram part. You will not fear the ter ror of night, nor the ar row
that flies by day, nor the pes ti lence that stalks in the dark ness,
nor the plague that de stroys at mid day... If you make the Most
High your dwell ing—even the Lord, Who is my ref uge—then
no harm will be fall you, no dis as ter will come near your tent.
For He will com mand His an gels con cern ing you to guard you
in all your ways; they will lift you up in their hands, so that you
will not strike your foot against a stone. You will tread up -
on the li on and the co bra; you will tram ple the great li on
and the ser pent. "Because he loves Me," says the Lord, "I
will res cue him; I will pro tect him, for he ac knowl edg -
es My name. He will call up on Me, and I will an swer
him; I will be with him in troub le, I will de liv er him and
hon or him. With long life will I sat is fy him and show him My
sal va tion." (Psalms, 91:1-7, 9-16)
Then they cried out to the Lord in their troub le,
and He de liv ered them from their dis tress.
(Psalms, 107:6)
