longed dis as ters, and se vere and lin ger ing ill ness es. He will
bring up on you all the dis eas es of Egypt that you dread ed, and
they will cling to you. The Lord will al so bring on you ev ery
kind of sick ness and dis as ter not re cord ed in this Book of the
Law, un til you are de stroyed. (Deuteronomy, 28:58-61)
I know how re bel lious and stiff-necked you are. If you have
been re bel lious against the Lord while I am still alive and with
you, how much more will you rebel aft er I die! (Deuteronomy,
31:27)
"Woe to the ob sti nate chil dren," de clares the Lord... heap ing
sin up on sin. (Isaiah, 30:1)
... Those who op pose You will be as noth ing and per ish. (Isa-
iah, 41:11)
They are all hard ened rebels... They are bronze and iron; they
all act cor rupt ly. (Jeremiah, 6:28)
Yet they did not lis ten or pay at ten tion; they were stiff-necked
and would not lis ten or re spond to dis ci pline. (Jeremiah, 17:23)
This is what the Lord Almighty... says: "Listen! I am go ing to
bring on this city and the vil la ges around it ev ery dis as ter I
pro nounced against them, be cause they were stiff-necked and
would not lis ten to My words." (Jeremiah, 19:15)
... They and their fa thers have been in re volt against Me to this
very day. The peo ple to whom I am send ing you are ob sti nate
and stub born. Say to them, "This is what the Sovereign Lord
says." And wheth er they lis ten or fail to lis ten—for they are a
re bel lious house—they will know that a Prophet has been
among them. And you, son of man, do not be afraid of them or
