WISDOM AND SOUND ADVICE FROM THE TORAH

kind ness; let him re buke me—it is oil on my head. My head will
not refuse it. Yet my prayer is ev er against the deeds of evil do ers.
But my eyes are fixed on You, O Sovereign Lord; in You I take ref -
uge—do not leave my soul des ti tute. Keep me from the snares they
have laid for me, from the traps set by evil do ers. Let the wick ed fall
in to their own nets, while I pass by in safe ty. (Psalms, 141:1-10)

I cry aloud to the Lord; I lift up my voice to the Lord for mer cy...
it is You Who know my way... I cry to You, O Lord; I say, "You
are my ref uge, my por tion in the land of the liv ing." Listen to
my cry, for I am in des per ate need; res cue me from those who
pur sue me, for they are too strong for me.. (Psalms, 142:1-6)

O Lord, hear my prayer, lis ten to my cry for mer cy; in Your faith -
ful ness and right eous ness come to my re lief... I re mem ber the
days of long ago; I med i tate on all Your works... I spread out my
hands to You; my soul thirsts for You like a parched land... Let
the morn ing bring me word of Your un fail ing love, for I have put
my trust in You. Show me the way I should go, for to You I lift
up my soul. Rescue me from my en e mies, O Lord, for I hide my -

self in You. Teach me to do Your will, for You are my God; may
Your good Spirit [Your mercy and Your Light] lead me on lev el
ground. For Your name's sake, O Lord, pre serve my life; in your
right eous ness, bring me out of troub le. In Your un fail ing love...
for I am Your ser vant. (Psalms, 143:1-12)

... Praise be to the Lord! He is my lov ing God and my for tress
[protector], my strong hold and my de liv er er, my
shield, in Whom I take ref uge... Man is
like a breath; His days are like a fleet ing
shad ow... I will sing a new song to you,
