23) THE DESTRUCTION OF GREAT CITIES
Great cit ies will be ruined, and it will be as if they had
not exist ed the day before.

The had ith indi cates that cer tain large cit ies will be
destroyed as a result of wars and var i ous nat u ral dis as -
ters. Several large cit ies were indeed destroyed or
severe ly dam aged dur ing the 1400s ah. These events
are major signs of the Mahdi's com ing. The atom ic
bombs dropped by the United States on Hiroshima and
Nagasaki in 1945 killed innu mer a ble peo ple and razed
both cit ies to the ground.
